Scrubs Power Hour: Selections from Season One
Featuring hits from David Gray, Nil Lara, Cheap Trick, and more
Scrubs is one of the most enduring sitcoms from the 2000s, serving up a unique combination of laughs, heartfelt moments, and quirky characters, all in a setting that’s more commonly seen in dramas and soap operas than in 30-minute comedies. It reflects the personalities, idiosyncrasies, and obsessions of its creators—especially when it comes to the soundtrack.
Scrubs pioneered and mastered the art of picking a sad-sack alternative or indie rock track to drive home a dramatic scene or serve to thematically tie-up loose ends in a short montage. But the soundtrack also featured a diverse set of oldies, ‘80s hits, hip-hop, and punk rock tracks, while the show itself even featured cameos from Colin Hay and the Polyphonic Spree. And my new internet radio show, Scrubs Power Hour, celebrates it all.
Scrubs Power Hour is, as far as I know, the only radio show dedicated to playing music from Scrubs and telling you which episode and scene it played it. With hours of music from across eight seasons to choose from, Scrubs Power Hour should be almost as long-lived as the TV show itself.
There’s no better place to start than season one, which came out of the gate with a bang with tracks from Buzzcocks, Erasure, and Guided By Voices. We’ll hear from these great artists and more, plus clips of original songs and vocal performances from the cast.

More Scrubs coverage on Night Water
Longtime Night Water readers might remember guest writer Loa Beckenstein dropping in to reflect on how Scrubs and Ted Lasso, another show from creator Bill Lawrence, portray masculinity:
According to Bill Lawrence, a Scrubs reboot is on the way, with work starting this year. Bill, if you’re reading this—these episode pitches are slightly out-of-date, but there are plenty more where these come from if you’re still looking for ideas:
